Vintrowear vintage Lee western shirt featured in Etsy Treasury list

This one-of-a-kind two-toned western with silver metallic piping is featured in an Etsy Treasury List called “On the Cuff, Off the Cuff,” and we can see why.  The unique striped cuffs match not only the yoke, but also the placket and pockets. Black snaps complete the package
This shirt and many others are available from the Vintrowear Etsy Store.  Get ‘em while they’re hot!

Smitten by a mitten, and a slice of Memphis with the Bo-Keys

Lebowski and hand knits

Many thanks to our good friend JKE for sewing the upcycled fleece lining into the mittens on her fancy sewing machine.

In other news, last Monday we were “Just Chillin’” at Joe’s Pub with the Bo-Keys, featuring a good friend of Cousin Craig’s, Scott Bomar.

The Bo-Keys

Finally, what week wouldn’t be complete without an up-skirts shot of the most famous lady in America:

Statue of Liberty
Thank you to Mr. Vintrowear for that inspired photograph.

And in case you’re wondering how the Etsy store is going, well, it’s hopping!  Don’t forget to check out vintage cowboy shirts at the Vintrowear Etsy store.  And the full selection is also available at Vintrowear.com.

Penguins Need Sweaters

Or “jumpers,” as our fellow knitters in New Zealand like to call them. Penguins Need Sweaters
A yarn store in New Zealand called Skeinz is organizing an effort to put penguins in hand-knits to protect them from an oil spill.  Not only will the sweaters keep them warm, they’ll prevent the poor little guys from ingesting the toxic oil.  Knit a sweater, save a penguin!

City slickers in western wear

Pearl snap shirts on hipsters: do you look hotter than a two-dollar pistol? Or are you just a Monkey Ward cowboy?  If the only thing you’re wrangling is a seat on the subway, do you have the huevos to wear one of these fine shirts?
Blogger Showdown: Can Any Man Pull off Cowboy Gear?
James Fox is probably on to something:
But those shirt snaps are just so damn practical. Your cuff wont snag on machinery (or a corkscrew) but rather pop apart. To replace a broken snap, you have spiked interlocking pieces and a form that you have to hit with a hammer. That’s how a man should be replacing his buttons.
Be a man.  Buy a cowboy shirt.

Wow, white!

According to Huff-Po, white cowboy shirts all the rage:
White is everywhere: Not the easiest to wear, but it can be incorporated. Lots of it in Ralph Lauren’s new denim line, Denim and Supply. We saw great white cotton twill pants with white gauze cowboy shirts, it’s an interesting way to use the trend and make it approachable.
