It takes a worried man to sing a worried song*
Building a new headquarters from scratch is hard work, but all work
and no play makes Vintrowear a dull girl. Sing while you slave! Or
just sing along. Or, dance onstage…
Garland Jeffreys opening for Marshall Crenshaw 2/4/12 at Maxwell’s in Hoboken

Tony Shanahan and Graham Maby at Marshall Crenshall Show
Andy York playing with Marshall Crenshaw

David Furfero, host of Ampers&nd Duo Improv Comedy, Peoples Improv Theatre, 3/11/12

Lianne Smith singing with Mary Lee’s Corvette at Rodeo Bar, 3/28/12
Phil Cimino in cowboy shirt, drumming for Mary Lee and Lianne

Nada Surf, Webster Hall, 4/7/12

Doug Gillard with Nada Surf, Webster Hall, 4/7/12

Bruce Springsteen, Prudential Center, Newark, NJ 5/2/12

Gary Jules, 6/8/12 at Joe’s Pub

Groove Theory’s Amel Larrieux at SummerStage in Central Park, 6/17/12
Morris Day and the Time, BB King’s, 7/13/12

And yes, that is yours truly doing the bird onstage with Morris.
Ran into these fine ladies in the Ladies Room (where else?)
Leela James, 7/18/12 at the Highline

Jeff Tweedy and Wilco, 7/23/12, Prospect Park, right before it started to pour.
*I’m worried now but I won’t be worried long!

It’s been a long, long drought baby
But tonight the rain’s pourin’ down on our roof. As long as the damn
thing doesn’t start leaking again, we’ll be just fine! On January 29,
2012, Vintrowear began its great southernward migration, camping out
along the way, enduring privations and hardship, an arduous months long
journey to reach the land of milk and honey: Brooklyn. Take us home,
Flat Rate!
A heartfelt thanks to the many friends who hosted these wayward travelers, who gave us a place to lay our heads during our months of homelessness. We made it here, but we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you.

Treasure and be treasured
We treasure The Stones, and so does Grand Manner Vintage Shop. Grand Manner Vintage Shop also treasures Vintrowear’s black western shirt from High Noon. Check it out, and be sure to also check out Grand Manner’s etsy shop – she’s got some great items such as this vintage silk paisley scarf from Christian Dior.
We share the love by treasuring both Bruce Springsteen and decora-ous switchplates in the rocker style (or paddle-style, for those of you who go for that kind of thing.) Getcha switchplates heeyah!
Here’s the one I bought:

“Undine” Will Knock Your Socks Off!
If you haven’t yet seen “Fabulation: Or, the Re-Education of Undine,” we urge you to do so. Directed by Brooklyn’s own Cynthia Babak and performed by the Brave New World Repertory Theater Company, it runs until May 13 at the Brooklyn Lyceum. Natalie Venetia Belcon, who plays Undine, is a force of nature, and the cast members who play her family are truly funny. Together they have great comedic chemistry. Playwright Lynn Nottage is the winner of a Pulitzer Prize, and “Undine” won an OBIE in 2005. The Brave New World production is both entertaining and moving. The costuming also hits the mark, providing spot-on depictions of everything from a Duane Reade employee to a upper east side matron to a pregnant teenager from the projects, striking a note of authenticity that all real New Yorkers will appreciate. A full write-up appears in the Daily News. Get your tickets today!
